As someone who tries to be conscious of my protein intake, I’m always on the lookout for a high protein snacks to help me meet my protein goals. A few of my favorites include this vegan chocolate protein mug cake and these fudgy sweet potato protein brownies.

One thing I frequently crave are yogurt and granola bowls, however, many of the store-bought protein granolas are often loaded with unnecessary additives and oils. As a result, I set out to find a recipe that had minimal ingredients while still packing a nice punch of protein. This protein granola recipe is made with just 6 pantry ingredients, comes together in less than 30 minutes and has 15g of protein per serving!

Easy Protein Granola Ingredients

  • Rolled Oatmeal– As the main base of the granola recipe, I can’t recommend any substitutions here. I tend to go for classic rolled oatmeal as it provides the best texture for clusters. Make sure you are purchasing certified gluten-free oats if you need the recipe to be gluten-free.
  • Protein Powder– You can use any kind of protein powder you like for the granola but keep in mind the flavor as it will taste pretty much just like the protein powder. I opted for chocolate protein powder to make it like a chocolate peanut butter cup (yum). If your protein powder is unsweetened and unflavored you may want to adjust the recipe to make it sweeter (more maple syrup) or include spices and flavorings such as vanilla or cinnamon.
  • Peanut Butter– If you’re not into peanut butter for some reason, you can also use almond butter, cashew butter, sunflower seed butter, or tahini. While you could use oil, I recommend sticking with a nut/seed butter as it will provide protein and other nutrients while oil only provides fat and calories.
  • Chocolate Chips– I added dairy-free chocolate chips to mine but you could also incorporate dried fruit (like cranberries, raisins, or goji berries), shredded coconut, or your favorite nuts and seeds.
  • High Heat Oil Spray– Giving the granola just a light spray of oil helps prevent burning and makes for an even crispier texture, while keeping the added calories minimal. That said, you can leave it out if you want to avoid the oil altogether.

Notes

*I used Truvani's chocolate protein powder which is sweetened with monk fruit. If you use a plain protein powder you may want to add more liquid sweetener or spices and flavoring such as ground cinnamon and vanilla extract.
**Any nut or seed butter will work
***Any liquid sweetener will work
