Hemp Ranch Dressing
Hemp Ranch Dressing- a simple, dairy-free version of ranch made with just 6 ingredients! (vegan + nut-free)
Say goodbye to store-bought ranch dressing, my friends! Once you try this super easy hemp seed version, you’ll never look back.
Not only is it packed full of plant protein and anti-inflammatory omega-3s (which are very important for plant-based eaters) but all you need is 6 ingredients and 5 minutes to make it. Let me show you how it’s done…
Hemp Ranch Dressing Ingredients
First off, let’s talk about what you need to make the dressing:
- Hulled Hemp Hearts– AKA hemp seeds, these little nutritional power houses will be the base of our dressing. When blended with liquid they turn into creamy deliciousness that will take on the flavor of whatever you combine them with, very similar to raw cashews.
- Lemon Juice– any good ranch dressing has a nice tang to it and we’re using lemon juice to accomplish that here.
- Dried Dill– perhaps my favorite part of ranch dressing, dill is a major player in the flavor profile. You can use dried or fresh, just keep in mind that fresh dill will turn the dressing a little more green.
- Garlic Powder– another vital component, garlic powder adds savoriness and depth to the dressing.
- Mustard Powder– acidic in nature, mustard powder adds even more delicious tang.
- Sea Salt– because everything is better with salt.
How to Make Hemp Ranch Dressing
- You’ll need a powerful blender such as a NutriBullet, Magic Bullet or Vitamix. I prefer to use my NutriBullet because the small container lets me blend small batches at a time, usually enough to last me a week. If you want to make big batches to store for months or longer, you’ll need to sterilize your storage container and provide an airtight seal.
- To make the dressing all you have to do is place everything in the blender with water then blend until smooth. That’s it!
This hemp ranch dressing is perfect to use as a dipping sauce or for topping salads. I have a feeling once you try it you’ll never buy the store-bought kind again!

I love making dressings with hemp seeds! This ranch looks delicious :)
I’ve been wanting to make a hemp ranch dressing – THIS is the recipe!
Oh yum, this sounds like a great vegan, homemade alternative to ranch dressing! When I’ve looked at the ingredient lists of ranch dressings at regular food stores, I’m so grossed out haha recently I found a vegan avocado ranch that I like, but I’ll definitely be giving this recipe a try soon!
Could you use mustard instead of mustard powder ?
Hmm I can’t say for sure bc I haven’t tried it but you probably could. You just wouldn’t want to use very much. The mustard powder adds a very subtle flavor. It would have to be plain mustard (not dijon) and I wouldn’t add more than 1/2 teaspoon.
Oh my this sounds so good! I love using hemp in dressings, but still haven’t tried it as ranch! So excited to try this
This is such a fun way to use hemp seeds! I always seem to have some hanging out in my fridge but usually just sprinkle on things. Must try this out!
Made this to go on top of shredded buffalo chicken and mashed sweet potato. I know — not your type of meal but oh my gosh it’s sooo good!! I’ll definitely be making this ranch to go on summer salads this year. Thanks, Sarah. :)
This tastes nothing like ranch. All I taste is lemon. Maybe 2 teaspoons would have done the trick? I don’t know, but wouldn’t make this again, that’s for sure.
You could always replace the lemon juice with white vinegar to see if that suits you better but if you’re unwilling to experiment to suit your personal preferences then I guess there’s not much of a point.
Yeah, using apple cider vinegar or flavored vinegar and some agave sweetener syrup brings it closer to store bought ranch. Try some parmesan or Romano cheese mixed in if you can do a touch of dairy.
So delicious!
This is delicious! I’ve made it several times now. It’s my new go to ranch replacement. Love how simple it is.
I had vegan ranch made with hemp once and it was amazing I can tell this is probably close to that recipe. So excited I ordered the hemp from your link just now. Thanks for making it easier for us vegans!
Can this be frozen?
I think it could! You might just have to blend it again once it’s defrosted because there might be some separation.
Do yourself a favor and go ahead and double this recipe. I added some ACV for a little extra tang. It is delicious! I love putting this on rice bowls, salads, using as a dip, etc. It is phenomenal. And no crazy ingredients like store bought ranch!
Tastes amazing and so easy to make! Will be making it again for sure!
