Autumn Detox Smoothie
Bonjour mes amours! I’ve made it safely to Europe and am currently looking out upon this view as I write. It’s absolutely breathtaking.
I know I mentioned before that we were flying to Paris but we only planned to stay there for one night before driving to Switzerland. Brandon had a conference scheduled here and there was NO WAY I was letting him come without me. So here I am, up in the Swiss Alps with the most glorious of views, praying for the Wi-Fi connection to start working so that I can publish this post on time.
We’re in a fairly remote area right now but there are a few vacation days in between the conference and a meeting with his colleagues back in France so we’ll be spending two days on Lake Geneva in the city of Montreux and then we plan to drive to Provence the following week before heading home. I’m so excited to share all of the details with you! In the meantime, I have a few recipes and some fun guest posts planned that I think you’ll enjoy.
So to start things off, let’s talk about this fall inspired detox smoothie.
It’s probably getting to the point where most of you are craving pumpkin spice lattes rather than smoothies, but this is actually more like a thick juice than a smoothie. I’m just too cheap to buy a juicer and too lazy too strain out the pulp so we’re calling it a smoothie. But really there’s no point in going through the extra trouble anyway.
Why we would we want to let all of the healthy fiber and vitamins in the pulp go to waste?
Ironically, I had a juice at a cafe in Paris on Saturday that was really similar to this but it was made with parsnips instead of ginger. I know it sounds a little strange but it was so good and it gave the juice a nice creamy texture.
While this particular drink isn’t creamy, the combination of apples, carrots, ginger, and orange is deliciously bright and refreshing. The ginger provides a little natural detoxification and the high amounts of vitamin A & C will have your skin glowing in no time.
By the way things are looking so far in Switzerland (read: SO MUCH CHEESE) I have a feeling I’ll be craving one of these by the end of the trip. Cheers!

I’m so jelly of your Euro trip! I went to Interlaken, Switzerland during an incredible snow storm a few years back and it was one of the most beautiful experiences EVAHHHH! Switzerland is just such a fairy tale gorgeous place.
So happy you made it there safe and sound, love! Can’t wait to get all the recaps and see all them photogs!
This smooooovie?! Detox me, baby!
I’m so jealous of your European trip! It sounds like so much fun. This smoothie looks great too. I still haven’t made any type of carrot smoothie in my blender and I need to change that!
This looks amazing! I love juices and smoothies with carrots in them but I’ve never considered blending them! I too am too cheap and lazy to deal with a juicer (and short on space) so this is great. Have an incredible trip!
I juice a lot of carrots but I haven’t tried them in a smoothie. I’ll definitely be trying this!
Have an AMAZING trip! :)
Forget this recipe, you’re is EUROPEEEE!! Can you tell that I’m jealous? ;) You will absolutely love Montreux. It was one of my favorite cities along with Lausanne when we were there!
I don’t remember seeing Switzerland pics on your blog! You need to share those, girly! I could have used them for some inspiration. :)
pretty photos. love the color pops on the dark background.
Ginger is an ingredient I’d love to start using more at home but have never bought any. This looks like a good one. Have a great trip! Looking forward to pictures of the foods and drinks:)
Not even going to tell you how jealous I am of your trip to Europe… Hope you’re having a blast, lady! And you basically just listed out all my favourite ingredients to toss in a juice, but I love that you made a smoothie out of them because cleaning up the juicer is just a huge hassle and I always feel bad for wasting all that pulp!
You’re having a really good vacation year — so jealous of this trip! I’ll just be home drinking this smoothie, shaking my fists because I’m not enjoying it anywhere other than my personal couch.
Yes, it has been a great and very expensive vacation year, haha. I’m loving it now but I’ll be making up for it for the at least the next 6 months. :)
ahh i could really use a detox smoothie today! i bet the ginger in this is great!
Oooh – ginger and apples and carrots – now this is my idea of a detox!
Safe travels in Europe!
I desperately need this in my life. I just got off on a bender of a weekend and need something healthy to counteract all of the bad. Have so much fun in Switzerland, the picture you put up on Instagram earlier was to die for!!
Sounds fabulous! Have so much fun in Europe!!! :)
This juice is very similar to my go-to green juice, but I add spinach into the mix as well. I actually just made it this morning!
Oohh, I’ll have to try it with spinach next time! I love the idea of sneaking in a little green. :)
Eee! I can’t wait to hear more about your trip! Switzerland always looks just so so gorgeous in all the pictures I’ve ever seen – jealous! :) And I’m still drinking smoothies – so this looks delicious! Plus, with all the fall baking coming up I can use some things to balance it all out!
Next time please put me in your suitcase! I’ve seen some of your pics on IG… AMAZING!
ooooh this looks good. i’ve been eating a lot of cheese too, and need a bit more nutrients on the healthy spectrum. that and now you’ve got me craving carrot juice.

Enjoy Switzerland! I have heard it amazing.
Have the most fabulous time in Europe and enjoy every bite of the amazing food!! I’ll be sipping this smoothie while you’re gone :)
That looks so beautiful where you are right now! So awesome that your husband got send there for work and that you could tag along. I once go to go to New Orleans with my husband for work and it was so nice just hanging out while he worked all day! This smoothie looks like the perfect way to autumn detox :)
Enjoy Switzerland my dear! It must be beautiful there. I have a few memories of a green, tidy and quite country. Cheese, you’re right… but don’t forget to pay homage to the yummy Swiss chocolate! Don’t worry about the super healthy juice, I’ll drink it more for you too :)
Switzerland was unbelievable! And yes, we ate our weight in chocolate and cheese. I need you to drink all the juice you can for me! :)
Looks delicious!!!!!

I hope you are having a great time in Europe. Be safe. This smoothie recipe looks amazing. I tried one Ayurvedic smoothie from iahas.com where I used kale, spinach, celery, ginger, apple, basil, and some spices. It was too good.
