What I Ate Wednesday {My First Time}
I’ve known about WIAW since before I even started my blog but I chose not to participate because I just knew I would bore the bajeezus out of everyone with my predictable eats.
I kind of get set in my ways when it comes to breakfasts and snacks so it would pretty much be a repeat of the same thing, every.single.Wednesday. I should probably take that as a sign that I need to switch things up.
Anyway, I have actually had a few readers inquire about what a day of eats looks like for me so I decided to take the opportunity to finally link up with WIAW to show you peeps what I ate! Thanks to Jenn and the cutie-patootie chickpea for hosting!

I found it easiest to write this as ‘day in the life of style’ post so you can see when I eat what I eat as I eat before I eat. Wha?
6:30am: Alarm goes off, hit snooze and dream about getting paid to sleep for a living. Roll out of bed fifteen minutes later, get dressed, rinse my face and try to make myself look halfway presentable in ten minutes.
For breakfast, I throw a Food for Life Sprouted Grain Cinnamon Raisin English Muffin in the toaster while putting my lunch together. Then I top the English muffin with Justin’s Vanilla Almond Butter {insanely addicted} and shove half of it down with a tall glass of water then store the other half in a container for an afternoon snack.
7:15am: Hit the road and enjoy my 45-minute commute to work. Rush to clock-in, unload my bags and start my first patient. If I’m lucky that day, I’ll get fifteen minutes to sit down after my first patient to enjoy a yogurt.
I usually stick with Greek yogurt but Smári Icelandic yogurt has been on sale recently. It’s thick like Greek yogurt, has a short ingredient list and is low in sugar and high in protein so it fits the bill. I top it with a little chia seed granola to soften the tangy flavor.
11:00am: I have another short break to slice a pink lady apple. I scarf it down to hold me over until lunch.
12:30pm: I eat lunch at my desk while trying to work on my next blog post. There are usually some kind of leftovers for lunch and today it’s lentil sloppy joes (recipe coming soon!) with a side of mashed butternut squash.
I almost always bring unsweetened iced green tea and water to drink.
Yes, the walls in my work space are bright yellow. I think they’re trying to compensate for the lack of windows. It’s not working. Save me!
2:00pm: I get a craving for something sweet and decide to try one of the Dark Chocolate Sunflower Butter Cups sent to me by Sun Cups.
I’m pleasantly surprised with them. They’re a little less salty than peanut butter cups but still delicious and satisfying. I love that they’re offering a natural alternative for people with peanut allergies too, like Amanda.
4:30pm: I eat the second half of my English muffin then leave work and head straight to the gym. It takes me about 30 minutes to get there and I eat a banana on the way so that I have plenty of energy for Body Pump.
6:30pm: Feeling exhausted and ready for dinner, I leave the gym and drive home. About 30 minutes later, I come home to my stinky girl and my handsome man. We eat reheated stuffed veggie loaf {from the freezer that I defrosted overnight} with roasted zucchini and a sweet potato on the side.
9:00pm: I finish my post for the day and hit publish. I try to visit a couple of other blogs, prepare my lunch for tomorrow and treat myself to a glass of milk and one of my favorite cookies.
10:00pm: I floss, brush my teeth and take a shower. I check my email or peruse Pinterest before shutting out the lights around 11:00pm. Then it’s sleep and repeat!
Are you still with me? Hopefully I didn’t bore you too badly.
Tomorrow is Thanksgiving and I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday! If you’re not in the U.S. then I hope you have a happy Thursday! :)
Do you eat a lot of the same breakfasts and snacks every day?
Do you know anyone with peanut allergies?
Oh my goodness, this isn’t boring in the slightest!! Actually, it’s one of my fave WIAWs I’ve read in awhile!
I totally know what you mean, worrying about boring others. I feel exactly the same, and therefore have never done a WIAW post either, despite the fact that I love reading those done by others.
I’ve ever heard of that Icelandic yogurt. Maybe because we seem to be 10 years in the past over here in the land down under. Sounds like a great switch up :)
Those sun cups look delicious!! And that cookie.. yumm! I still need to make that cookie recipe, every time you post a picture of it I get a craving.
I’ve never done a WIAW but I really enjoy reading them. Maybe I’ll give it a go one of these days…
Have a great/relaxing Thanksgiving!
haha I’m the same way – I go through phases where I eat the EXACT same thing for breakfast and for snacks (lunch is always leftovers of dinner). What can I say, I like my routine : ) And can I just say that I love your dog – I want to snuggle with her! lol In a non-creepy way I promise!
I think after you smelled one of her farts you would change your mind very quickly. ;)
So I got ridiculously excited when I saw that you put up a WIAW post! I can definitely relate to not feeling like your eats are anything special (I get into ruts and grooves as well), but people still seem to like to see em! We’re just a nosy bunch. And I may know a girl who has an allergy to pesky peanuts ;) Those little sunflower butter cups sound FABULOUS.
I always love reading everyone else’s WIAW but mine would be a snoozer…same breakfast almost every single day. Loved reading yours!
You didn’t bore me at all! Are you surprised? I’ve been looking everywhere for Justin’s vanilla almond butter but all I can find is the maple and honey kind. Pink lady apples are my favorite and once again your dog is adorable.
I’ve been curious about those sun cups! I would 100% put people to sleep if I linked up with WIAW but yours definitely did not! I guess I’m more interested in other people’s lives than I let on haha
I love this! I’m a super nosy person so I love day in the life posts. I have to leave for work at 7:15 too, so I feel you on the long commute every day! I get into ruts when I’m busy where I eat the same things all the time too, especially PB toast with banana for breakfast. I’ve never done a WIAW post before cause I feel the same way as you!
This is far from boring!! I love this and love the “day in the life” take. Can I come hang out? Your life (and food) is great :) I am also super excited for the sloppy lentil Joe recipe. Sound delish! Happy Thanksgiving lovely xo
I love it when people do WIAWs! I definitely think that my eats are boring, but people really do like reading about how other people eat on a daily basis. I’d say yours was interesting!
I pretty much rotate through 3-4 breakfasts and snacks…I can get creative when it comes to dinners, but I can’t be bothered any other time of the day!
Lentil sloppy joes are the BEST! I like to make a huge batch and eat them for lunch all week — so I guess my WIAW might get pretty boring after a while. Yours was pretty interesting!
mashed butternut squash is one of my favs!
Welcome to the WIAW family! ;) I didn’t think your post was boring whatsoever! In fact it was really interesting to see. You are awesome at eating a very balanced diet with room for an occasional splurge or two. I think your eats were very refreshing to see! :)
I don’t think your eats look boring at all! In fact, I think everything looks delicious! I totally hear you though, I do have a tendency to eat a lot of the same breakfasts and snacks from day to day. I try to mix things up sometimes, but a lot of the times I tend to resort back to my old favorites!
Oh dearest, sweetest, funny Sarah… You could never bore me!! I dream about getting paid to sleep as well.. Wouldn’t it be nice? One can wish…
Your eats look awesome and I’m incredibly intrigued by that sun butter chocolate cup. I am a huge fan of Reese’s but LOVE any kind of candy alternative that offers a better list of ingredients. That’s crazy that you get ready that quickly in the morning and that your commute is that long! I’m the opposite – it takes me 45 minutes to get ready and then I’m in the car for about 15-20… lol!
Feel free to do WIAW whenever you want, won’t scare me away!
HAVE AN AMAZING THANKSGIVING you beautiful lady!!!!!!
I feel the same way about WIAW…My eats don’t change that much. Breakfast’s are usually always somewhat the same (especially during the week), snack is either a yogurt or fruit, lunch is leftovers, afternoon snack is veggies/banana, and then dinner. Nothin’ to exciting there! Though I did find your post interesting because it’s nice to know what bloggers days are like. Yours and mine are very dang similar. :)
I love how you did this like a day in the life! It’s actually a lot more interesting than just a straight WIAW! Your days are jam packed! It’s impressive how much you can get done! Your eats make me jealous! How do you have time to prep everything? Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and enjoy some down time! :)
I spend a good deal of time in the kitchen on the weekend. It’s not exactly relaxing but it makes for good leftovers!
Ohhh I’ve never tried that Smári Icelandic yogurt!! I’ll have to keep an eye out. It looks good!
I eat the same thing for breakfasts because it just makes life easier. Batch cooking is awesome! I noticed we use the same paper plates for our lunches. Yes, I’m a dork. Thanks for the tip on the sun butter cups. I’ll need to keep my eyes peeled for those!
Welcome to the WIAW party!!! It is a fun one. I can’t wait to see future posts of yours :).
I love that you end your day with your favorite cookie – Such a perfect ending :) And I commend you on your daily 45-minute driving commute. I would stab my eyeballs out if I had to do that each and every day!
Thanks for sharing your routine with us. It’s cool! Now I know we share the same dream: getting paid to sleep for a living Lol!
Yes, getting paid to sleep in sounds wonderful! I usually link up with WIAW even though my meals stay the same. I think a lot of people fall into similar eating patterns, especially with breakfast.
I love these WIAW posts but I’m like you, I haven’t posted one yet because I’m afraid my foods will be boring. I didn’t think your post was boring at all though. Maybe I’ll start doing these soon too. :)
Happy first WIAW! It wasn’t boring at all! I tend to eat a lot of the same things over and over again, but it works. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Welcome to WIAW! Our meals look SO much the same it’s scary. I cant wait to try your stuffed veggie loaf… it looks amazing!
OMG welcome to the party! I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw your name on the link up this week!
Love your day of eats it isn’t boring at all and love hearing about your day. I go through phases with things where I will repeat a snack or meal over and over and over till I am so sick of it I never want it again or at least not for a while.
I have yet to do a WIAW and am planning to whip one out if I am feeling unmotivated on a Tuesday night to write a blog post. I like your idea of doing a ‘day in the life’-esqe version. It adds more hindsight and lets noisy neighbours like me to peak into your day.
PS: I remember a long time ago you commented on one of my posts about being scared of finding a huge mother in your Kombucha. That. happened. to. me. today.
I didn’t know what to do and ended up throwing it away. It looked like it was multiplying as the minutes went by.
Just thought you would like to know!
xx Happy thanksgiving tomorrow!
Thanks for sharing this ‘day in the life of’. It was great! I’m not really a breakfast person unless I specifically go out to eat breakfast/brunch. Usually a Luna bar and a coffee and lots of water would satisfy me for a few hours. And now that I’m pregnant, luckily, that really hasn’t changed. Unless I feel famished or nauseous in the a.m, then I’ll indulge in a bagel with cream cheese/yogurt/ or cereal.
That cookie looks delish!
I hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful!
I love WIAW posts…they always give me good ideas for snacks and dinners! Your meals look very similar to mine actually. I have to have an apple every day for my morning snack :) I usally eat it with a little PB&Honey!
First timer here! I love your blog and style of writing!!! So down to earth…
I eat the same thing pretty much everyday (I’m boring ;) but I feed my husband more creative dishes. I’m not allergic to Peanut Butter, just sensitive to it :/ I can have it in small doses :/
I’m going to make that stuffed veggie loaf!!! :)
What a cool twist on the usual WIAW post. It was neat getting a peak into your everyday schedule. I’m amazed at how healthy & balanced your meals are throughout the day. Everything literally sounds fantastic!
Happy Thanksgiving<3
Aww, WIAW virgin NO MORE! Haha! And umm, boring?! Not in the LEAST! I love the “day in the life” style too! I need to find some of that Smari yogurt…I’ve heard a lot of good things about it! I tend to go through food phases where I’ll eat the same thing for several days in a row…until I get tired of it and move on to my next “fascination”! ;)
And seriously? Our hospital needs a paint job…I’m tired of being “trapped” inside my windowless gray/taupe/poo-colored prison! 8O
Nothing boring about this- I think we all reckon our meals are boring but to others, its a nice mix up ;)
Never new you could get suncups- that sounds awesome! I tend to try and change up breakfasts, but that might mean cocoa powder in pancakes instead of cinnamon. Same thing for oatmeal. Have a great Thanksgiving- damn Australia and their lack of holidays
Welcome to WIAW! I always eat the same meals – sometimes I’ll have chili for breakfast though or breakfast for dinner, but it’s the same food because I cook for one and there are lots of leftovers.
Your cookie looks amazing – I see coconut shreds!
I used to work at a school where a teacher had a severe peanut allergy – it was really disappointing to not get to have PB at work. Though I guess it was good because I would’ve eaten so much more of it!
Wow!! Looks like some really healthy, tasty food… that yogurt looks amazing!! Also, I want to try one of those sun cups!! such a great idea for people w. allergies… or even just people who want to mix it up a bit!! Thanks for sharing girl, your food was NOT boring!! Happy Thanksgiving btw…hope you have a great day!
I think my WIAW would be pretty predictable too. When I get into a routine I just go on autopilot and throw the same things into my lunch everyday for a week or two lol. I did enjoying learning what you eat in a run of a day, however. Seems like you’re a very light eater!
Love this! Your life isn’t boring at all. I just did my first WIAW post as well and I feared the same thing. I think it’s just always fun to get a glimpse into other people’s habits. Loved that you finished the day off with a cookie! There was a cookie in my WIAW too :).
Yay, you finally joined WIAW posts :) You’re definitely eating some great food, nothing boring here :)
