Super Green Protein Smoothie
Super green protein smoothie- this invigorating smoothie is packed full of plant protein plus a secret ingredient for a natural energy boost! (vegan)
Happy New Year everyone!
Isn’t there something refreshing about starting another year over with a clean slate?
Maybe it’s just me, but I love organizing my thoughts and making a list of all of the things I want to accomplish throughout the year. It helps keep me focused and energized for everything that’s to come.
That sounds almost as cliché as posting a green smoothie during the first week of January, doesn’t it?
I know, but after you drink one of these babies, there’s a good chance you’ll feel the same way. Each one is full of healthy protein from spinach, hemp seeds, and almond butter. And there’s a touch of green tea powder to give you a little antioxidant-packed boost for the day. I don’t drink coffee so using matcha powder in my smoothies is a great substitute for me. The flavor is subtle and it blends right in so you barely notice it.
This combination is our favorite so far and I’m sure you’ll love it as much we do if you give it a try.
Cheers to a healthy and energized 2015!

This looks great Sarah! Pinned to re-create later. I agree it is always nice to start off with a clean slate in the New Year. Happy 205!
You’re not a real HLB if you don’t post a green smoothie recipe in January ;) This one looks delicious! Oh, and love that first photo btw.
Tha mangooooo! Gah that looks so good! I’m going to need a lot of vitamin-packed liquid to undo the holidays, and this smoothie’s looking mighty fine for breakfast. If only I had a mango….. Happy New Year, my lovekins!!!
Hi Sarah! You know, I’ve made a lot of green smoothies in my day, and I’ve never put mango in there. But I’m a big matcha fan. We all probably need some extra greens in our life right now. Thanks for sharing. Happy Friday!
you’re just killing it – love the recipe, love the photos.
what do you use to edit your purdy photos?
Aw, thank you, Hillary! I use Lightroom to edit and I love it!
I’m been seriously crushing on green smoothies lately. So much so that I’ve been drinking them for breakfast every morning despite the fact that it’s currently snowing and about -20. But I can’t help it! I love how energized they make me feel, and I’m not seeing the habit vanish any time soon.
MMM…I almost have everything on hand! I’d just change out coconut milk instead of almond, since I have so many opened cans! Only problem is my house is freezing! But I do tend to love smoothies in January! haha.
I am loving green smoothies at the moment! Such a great healthy way to bring in the new year (and it doesnt hurt that it’s ridiculously hot down here in my part of the world at the moment!) This combo sounds great too, I’ve never put matcha in a smoothie before, Im definitely going to have to try this combo :)
CHEERS! This is filling and perfect for the start of the new year. Ehhhhem you don’t drink coffee?? I gasped.. lol Fine than we shall share matcha powder smoothies over one of your muffin recipes. :)
I love your new blog design! Clean and stylish, just the way I like it.
I don’t know what to do with all the matcha I’ve got… this smoothie is a cool inspiration :)
No matter how much I try to resist jumping on the new year bandwagon, I always end up making lists and telling myself it’ll be my healthiest/most organized/happiest year ever. I love it!
What a great recipe to start off the year! I bet the mango adds such a nice sweet element, and I love that bright green color from the matcha and spinach. And anything with almond butter is okay in my book :)
Ha, I just posted a green drink recipe this morning myself! I don’t even mind if it’s cliche, because I totally need a detox from too much sugar & alcohol over Christmas and New Year’s – and I figure if I do, other people must need it too :) Happy New Year, Sarah!!
haha well we can be cliche together :) I started making goals and all that jazz for the year … and I have a smoothie recipe coming soon. lol
This sounds delicious! I’ve been making green smoothies the last few days and am always looking for new combos to try!
After a few too many Christmas cookies, this smoothie sounds like just the thing I need! I can’t wait to get out my blender tomorrow :)
This looks and sounds delicious! I’m all about the green smoothies year-round, so I’ll definitely be adding this to my rotation.
I love hemp seeds in a smoothie. I’ve kind of fallen off the smoothie train lately. I should get back on. Will you personally make one for me? You can come stay for a night ;) haha
It might take me a while to get there but it sounds like a deal! :)
