This Super Berry Pomegranate Smoothie comes together with just 5 ingredients. It packs 10 grams of protein without any protein powder added. Of course, you can adjust it to your liking and add or substitute where you please.

What are the Health Benefits of Pomegranate Seeds?

In addition to being an excellent source of fiber, pomegrantes contain ellagitannins which are bioactive polyphenols that have anti-inflammatory effects on cells in the body.

When we consume pomegranate seeds, the fruit is digested down into the colon where it’s then fermented into smaller substances called urolithins.

Super Berry Pomegranate Smoothie Ingredients

  • Frozen Mixed Berries– If you don’t have mixed berries, feel free to swap out equal amounts of whatever frozen berry you prefer: blueberries, strawberries or raspberries are all great options!
  • Frozen Pomegranate Seeds– You should be able to find these in the frozen fruit section of most major grocery stores.
  • Orange Juice– I love the bright flavor (and vitamin C!) that orange juice adds but it may be too tart for some palates. You can always substitute your preferred milk if you think orange juice might not suit you.
  • Greek Yogurt- Yogurt gives the smoothie a creamier texture. I like to use dairy-free Greek yogurt to amp up the protein.
  • Chia Seeds– Incorporating chia seeds adds even more fiber plus a dose of healthy fats. Hemp seeds make a great alternative, adding even more protein. I like to use 2 tablespoons when I’m using hemp seeds as they will blend easier.

Want More Protein?

While the smoothie as is packs 10 grams of protein, you can always add a scoop of your favorite protein powder to bring it closer to 30 grams. I recommend using unflavored or vanilla protein for best results.

Super Berry Pomegranate Smoothie

Made with just 5 ingredients, this smoothie is an antioxidant powerhouse. Each servings packs 10 grams of protein and 12 grams of fiber!

Ingredients
 

  • 1 cup frozen mixed berries
  • ½ cup frozen pomegranate seeds
  • ½ cup orange juice, or sub milk
  • ¼ cup Greek yogurt, I use dairy-free Kite Hill
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds, or sub 2 tablespoons hemp seeds

  • In a high speed blender, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. You may need to add a bit more liquid to help it blend. If you're using a Vitamix, I recommend using the tamper stick to help it blend easier. This will also reduce the need for added liquid.
  • Serve immediately and enjoy!
