Sparkling Turmeric Tonic

Ingredients

  • 2- inch knob fresh ginger peeled, rinsed and roughly chopped
  • 5- inch piece fresh turmeric peeled, rinsed and roughly chopped (or 2 teaspoons turmeric powder)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cups filtered water
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice 2 to 3 lemons
  • 10 ounces club soda
  • cracked black peppercorn for garnish

Instructions

  • In medium size pot, bring 3 cups water to a boil. Add ginger and turmeric (if using fresh) then remove from heat. Pour in honey and stir to dissolve. Set aside to cool to room temperature. 
  • Once liquid is cooled to room temperature, stir fresh lemon juice. If using ground turmeric instead of fresh, whisk it in now. Refrigerate overnight, or for at least 8 hours. then strain, discarding solids. Store in airtight container for up to 10 days.
  • To serve, pour turmeric mixture over ice until the serving glass is three-fourths of the way full. Top off with soda water, garnish with fresh cracked black pepper, serve and enjoy!
