It’s official. I’ve become the obsessed dog mom who makes homemade frozen puppy yogurt.

I used to buy Frosty Paws for Coco and Gigi back in the day and it was always amusing to watch them lay there in a euphoric trans, licking their way to the bottom of the cup. Then recently I saw a documentary about what really goes into dog food and it made me think twice about what I buy for my fur babies. Those damn documentaries ruin everything, don’t they? ;)

The good news is that making your own frozen dog treats is super easy. I started with a simple combo of coconut milk, carrots, peanut butter, and a touch of pure maple syrup but the possibilities are endless. You could add blueberries, banana, sweet potato, pumpkin, or whatever fruits and vegetables you think your puppy might like.

The healthy fats in the coconut milk and peanut butter are great for dogs. I also added an organic probiotic that I found on Amazon for an extra boost. You don’t have to add probiotics but I like for Lucy to have them in her diet. Like I said, full blown crazy dog mom.

Another thing I found on Amazon that’s perfect for this recipe is these Munchkin Silicone Freezer and Storage Cups. It makes enough to fill up 8 of them. You just screw on the lid and store them in the freezer until you’re ready to give them a treat.

Lucy did such a good job waiting for me to take these pictures. The natural light in my kitchen is awful so I was struggling to get a good shot but she stayed put like a good girl.

Then once I moved the photo shoot outside (for better light), there was no keeping her from it. She went to town and cleaned the cup, and then played with the cup like it was a toy for the next 15 minutes. It’s kind of her thing. Playing with her food. Dogs can be so quirky…
