Friday Favorites
Happy Friday, lovelies! I hope you all had a fantastic week.
We found a mass in Coco’s mouth on Sunday so unfortunately it’s been a stressful one for me. She’s at the vet’s office today getting a biopsy and x-rays so we won’t know for sure what it is until next week but I’m trying my best to stay positive. Right now I’m finding comfort in giving her extra big hugs and feeding her plain yogurt mixed pumpkin because I know how happy it makes her.
Yep, I’ll be hanging with that face as much as possible this weekend. :)
Whatever your plans are, I hope it’s a fun and relaxing one for you. In the meantime, settle in for a collection of my recent favorite finds!
Favorite Zoodles: Crispy Honey Lemon Cauliflower on Chili and Garlic Stir Fried Zoodles. Who needs chicken when you have crispy cauliflower? Seriously. If this doesn’t make you crave veggies, I don’t what will.
Favorite Getaway: Carmel, California. Next month will be our one year wedding anniversary so we’re planning a short getaway to Carmel! I’m looking forward to hiking in Big Sur, tasting lots of good wine, and taking in the romantic sunsets with my love. If you’ve been and you have any recommendations for us, I would love for you to share them with me!
Favorite Spring Outfit: Red Maxi Skirt. I’ve been on the hunt for a cute red maxi skirt to wear wine-tasting in Carmel for several weeks now. I haven’t found one I like yet but I love how effortless it looks with a denim jacket.
Favorite DIY: How to Grow Your Own Avocado Plant. We eat avocadoes like they’re going out of style and it can get a little pricey sometimes so I love this idea to grow your own.
Favorite Healthy Lunch: Mayo-Free Avocado Egg Salad. Speaking of avocadoes, how awesome do they sound mixed in egg salad? I bet the touch of fresh lemon juice really takes it over the top!
Favorite Tutorial: How to Make Dairy-free Coconut Yogurt. Giving up yogurt would definitely be the hardest part of going dairy-free for me but I have to say, this all-natural homemade alternative makes it look pretty darn easy.
Favorite Hairstyle: Lived-in Waves. It’s been over two months since I cut my hair short and I still haven’t figured out how to style it any other way than straight. I’m hoping with this tutorial and a little practice that I can get it to look this cute!
Favorite Healthy Snack: No-Bake Carrot Cake Energy Bites. I love carrot cake like no other so being able to eat it on a daily basis without feeling guilty sounds like a dream come true. Give me all the balls!
Favorite Drink: Pistachio Matcha Milk. I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw this. Best idea ever.
Favorite Appetizer: Goat Cheese & Spinach Stuffed Strawberries with Candied Walnuts and Balsamic Glaze. This beautiful appetizer looks like the perfect way to welcome strawberry season and would be great for an Easter party. I know I couldn’t resist eating one if I tried!
aww, hope everything with the pup goes well!!
I’m sorry to hear about the mass on coco, Sarah! I totally know how that feels. We’re going through it with Lexi right now. I’m going to send you positive vibes that it comes back with nothing to worry about! <3
I am absolutely praying for Coco today that the mass is nothing and that your sweet pup is healthy! So sorry you even have to go through with the stress, thinking of you!
Thank you, Jana! We’re hanging in there!
I have heard such great things about Carmel! Take a ton of pics and can’t wait to read your recaps :)
Oh hun, my fingers are crossed everything is okay with Coco! I’m sending my positive juju your way and hoping for the best possible outcome!
I’m happy to hear you’re taking a trip to Carmel! It’s such a romantic place and I absolutely love that dang beach at the bottom of the street, you know the one I’m talking about. Le sigh…you’re making me crave a trip down there with a hunk of man meat. Have a great weekend, girl, and keep thinking positive thoughts for Coco!
P.S. thanks for favoriting my dang avo egg salad. That ish is delish!
Sending positive thoughts Coco’s way! A red skirt is a great idea for wine tasting, mostly because I’m likely to spill wine on myself and then it’s harder to tell ;-)
Haha! Exactly. ;)
What a face on that adorable fur child of yours! Speaking from experience, I know the waiting to know the results can be so tough on your psyche, but my suggestion is to stay busy, esp. with Coco and do some things together that give you both great pleasure. I will hold good thoughts until I read your next post on her! From one of your many faithful readers… :)
Thank you, Jerilyn! I appreciate your kind words of advice. I stayed very busy and enjoyed lots of cuddle time with her this weekend! :)
Have so much fun on the coast. PLEASE take lots of photos. I really want to go to Big Sur for my b-day. Happy Anniversary!
Where are you staying?
I’m sure I will take way too many pictures, per usual. ;)
We’re staying at The Lamp Lighter Inn so we can bring Coco. But in my dreams I’d be staying at The Post Ranch Inn. It looks so amazing!!
Sending tonnes of hugs and good vibes to Coco <3 Hope her tests come back fine! And I literally -just- threw out an avocado seed, but now I'm seriously considering fishing it out and trying to grow my own.
Thanks for including my bites, lady! Hope you have a good weekend with lots of pup time.
Oh my goshhh so many things to say. First of all, I hope all is well with Coco and I’m glad you two will be spending time together this weekend :)
I love love love that maxi skirt aaaand I’m excited to hear about your trip! Carmel looks gorgeousssss–happy almost 1 year and happy Friday!
Oh, Sarah, I’m so sorry about Coco. I hope she is okay. And a few more comments — YES on Carmel. Dave and I went after Thanksgiving last year for the first time and loved it. Buy tickets for the Wine Walk from the Chamber, and you can walk around and do tasting rooms in the downtown area very easily. Lots of good food and cute shops around there too. Hope you have a relaxing weekend! :)
Im so sorry to read about your precious puppy, but stay positive. Everything will hopefully be ok.
I recently cut my hair about the same length as in that picture and I love the lived -in waves look. I’ll be definitely trying it.
Thanks fo including my pistachio milk Sarah.
I’ll be praying for sweet coco!!! Hopefully it won’t be anything major!! Carmel is going to be so much fun!! I can’t wait to see your pictures!
I’m sending good thoughts your way for Coco!
Loving all these links (especially the red maxi skirt!) My husband and I are going to SF for a wedding in May and going to Carmel and Santa Barbara after, you have to give recommendations!
So sorry to hear about your poor pup, I know our doggie is our child, so I’m sure you guys are scared. Sending positive thoughts your way girly!
Happy Anniversary! Point Lobos is amazing and a nice little hike.
Thanks Lauren! I’m looking forward to it. :)
I’ve seen from Instagram that your dog is feeling good and looking great after the biopsy. Sending you and your dog big hugs <3
Thank you Daniela! <3
Keeping my fingers crossed for Coco. I hope she’s doing okay!
Oh no, I’m so sorry to hear about poor Coco! My thoughts are with you for a speedy recovery :) Now I’m off the curl my hair, make coconut yogurt, and put avocado egg salad on all the toasts.
I hope that all is okay with Miss Coco. Sending positive vibes your way!
Also, your getaway to Carmel sounds like it’s going to be an awesome time. I only spent a day in Big Sur a couple years ago, and we went horseback riding to the beach!
Carmel looks beautiful!! Congrats on your 1 year anniversary coming up! Our 3 year is coming up this month, but we don’t have any fun trips planned :( I hope Coco is doing much better!! Thanks so much for sharing my strawberries! :) I hope you have a great weekend :)
I hope all is well with Coco. It gets really stressful when something isn’t right with any of the family (my dogs are my babies too).
I can’t wait to try the Pistachio Matcha Milk. That looks divine not to mention pretty.
