Copycat Starbucks Spinach Feta Breakfast Wraps
Copycat Starbucks Spinach Feta Breakfast Wraps are a healthy, low-calorie option that can be made ahead of time and stored in the freezer. Take them out and microwave for just 2 minutes when you’re ready to eat!
Can you imagine what life would be like without Starbucks? Just try for a second.
Are you panicking yet?
Yeah, me too. I don’t even drink coffee but I depend on it. Like for those moments when I’m traveling and I haven’t eaten in 6 hours and there’s nothing but a bunch of greasy fast food restaurants everywhere and I’m ready to eat my own arm. Then in the distance, Starbucks appears like a mirage and as the doors open, angels begin to sing.
It doesn’t matter where it is, I can always count on them having a venti unsweetened green iced tea and something halfway decent to eat. One of my favorite things to order is their spinach and feta wrap made with egg whites. For less than 300 calories and 19 grams of protein, it’s a much healthier option than whatever grade D beef cheeseburger you can get next door.
The thing is, eating at Starbucks every day isn’t cheap and those wraps have more preservatives than I care to eat on a daily basis.
That’s okay though because it turns out that they’re ridiculously easy to make at home. Less than 30 minutes of prep and then you can freeze them to have ready to reheat for those mornings when you roll out of bed with just enough time to get dressed and throw your hair into a bun, i.e. basically every morning for me.
They can also easily be made gluten-free by using brown rice tortillas (or your favorite GF brand). I personally prefer to use whole grain tortillas and I always check to make sure the first ingredient listed is whole grain flour. A lot of companies will call their product whole grain just because they’re using a small percentage of it but the main ingredient is still enriched flour. Sneaky bastards.
I tried to make these taste as close as possible to the actual Starbucks wrap while also keeping the ingredient list simple. They’re made with sauteed spinach, fresh garlic, fire roasted tomatoes, scrambled egg whites, and a touch of feta cheese. The only thing I left out was sundried tomato cream cheese, but I found that it really didn’t make that big of a difference for the flavor.
The best thing about these is that after you wrap them up and freeze them, all you have to do is take them out of the freezer and microwave for 2 minutes when you’re ready to eat. No defrosting the night before. Just 2 minutes and they taste just as good as they did before they were frozen!
Breakfast is one meal that I tend to get stuck in a rut with because I’m always so short on time but having these on hand makes it much easier to get in a little variety in the morning.
I’m excited to play around with different versions too. If you try any that turn out good, please be sure to share them with me!
Ingredients
8 medium-size tortillas (or 6 large)
10 ounces baby spinach leaves
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, drained
16 ounces egg whites (approx. 10 egg whites)
6 ounces crumbled feta cheese
salt & pepper to taste
Instructions
- Warm the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat then add the spinach and garlic. Cook until the spinach starts to wilt, roughly 5 minutes. Next add the diced tomatoes and stir together, cooking for another 2 minutes. Transfer the spinach/tomato mixture to a large plate lined with a paper towels (to absorb excess moisture) and set aside.
- Place the skillet back on the burner and then pour the egg whites in. Use a spatula to stir them around as they cook, for about 5-7 minutes, until they are scrambled. Remove from heat and set aside.
- While the eggs cool, cut 8 pieces of parchment paper into 10-inch squares. One by one, place a tortilla on top of each square and fill it with the egg whites, spinach mixture, feta and a sprinkle of salt & pepper. Fold the ends of each tortilla together then wrap it with parchment paper, continuing with each one until all 8 are wrapped.
- Place the wrapped tortillas into a large plastic freezer bag and then try to press the excess air out. Alternatively, you can seal it shut by leaving just enough space in the seal to slide a straw in and then use your mouth to suck the excess air out as you slowly slide the straw out and close the seal. Write the date on the bag and then place in the freezer.
- When you’re ready to eat a wrap, simply remove one from the bag and microwave on high in the parchment paper (or wrapped in paper towels) for 2 minutes. Allow to cool and then enjoy!
Ooohh I love these wraps from Starby’s! So good! Yours look delicious and love the idea of freezing them for quick breakfasts!
YES to planning ahead for breakfast, you little genius, you!! I’ve never had one of these wraps from Starbucks but they look and sound fantastic. I’m loving the idea of just zapping one in the microwave and then PRESTO- breakfast! P.S. Starbucks saved my life over the weekend, as I was staying at a friend’s house who doesn’t drink coffee. Just swept through the ol’ SB and crisis averted!
Hope you had a great weekend!
I used to love these wraps from Starbucks, but I had read the eggs they used were not very good quality. This is a great idea – especially when you are pressed for time.
Such a perfect on the go breakfast (and now I can make it without having to shell out a lot of money for it! haha) My husband would probably love this, too!
YES! Those are my favorite! I am looking forward to making these for a quick and easy breakfast. Love how you can freeze them too.
You’re so good. I’d love to make these. A Starbucks run can be so expensive. I often stop there at airports and can’t walk away under $10 for just beverages. Happy Monday!
This wrap is by-far my favorite and go-to when I am travelling and desperate for food. On another note, I am always trying to find creative, healthy breakfast ideas because I typically eat breakfast once I get to work. This is such a great one to try out. I will be sure to share with you once I do!
Thanks, Mattie! I hope you like them!
Those look delicious, though I’ve never had one before. the pics made me hungry! :)
Thank you, Mercy! If you’re ever in a pickle and you need something to eat, the Starbucks version is a decent option. But I feel much better about making my own. :)
I love that wrap from Starbucks! My heart actually started to race a little faster when you said to imagine a world without starbucks. I have one across the street from my neighborhood, so I definitely don’t want to imagine that!
Such a good idea to make a bunch and freeze them. About half the time I have time in the morning to good something from scratch for breakfast, but for those other mornings I need something quick and easy.
I have heard awesome things about this particular wrap at Starbucks, and I am so glad you shared an easy at-home version. This looks like the perfect weekend breakfast!
Wait…you don’t drink coffee?!! You lost me there lol but I love the idea of making these wraps ahead of time! Easy peasy. Oh, and the spinach feta wrap is my favvvv.
Ah! I have made these in the past but never thought to freeze them or lay the mixture on a paper towel to soak up the extra moisture — genius! Will have to make another batch soon.
Yes! That step really helps to keep them from getting soggy.
I love that you recreated these!!! I get these wraps from Starbucks I think every time I’m at an airport or traveling and can’t find anything else that is decent! And I do enjoy them immensely :)
I don’t ever go to Starbucks because I’m not a coffee drinker either, but I think I need to start going for all the other delicious things they have! I love a good breakfast wrap and these look so good! I’m down for anything that has feta in it :)
I am a sadly a notorious starbucks food buyer.. the wraps, bagels and blueberry muffins always seem to tempt me. I just love this starbucks copycat wrap and how healthy it is too! I have to make it.
I’ve definitely gotten this wrap at Starbucks more than a couple of times, it’s delicious. Love your swap that I can keep in my freezer.
This is my absolute favorite “treat” from Starbucks but I agree, they’re kind of filled with junk, right? Thank you for the recipe!! These look easy peasy and just as quick to grab from the freezer on your way to work or to an early gym sesh.
YUM!! This looks so good!! I love Starbucks as well!! I can’t even without coffee! haha, soooooooo good!! And what a lovely breakfast recipe! Filled with healthy protein! :)
I’ve been GORGING on unhealthy breakfasts for the last five days, and will continue to do so for the next three days (I’m on vacation, so I have an excuse??). I am totally going to need a detox when I get back, and since I can’t go without breakfast I think these beauties need to be on the menu!!
Oohh this is one of the only food items I will get at SB’s, although I have made a vow with myself to not go there any more than once a month lol. I will for sure be trying this! I’m thinking I will try hummus or pesto or maybe both along with it :)
